The following comes from a book that once belonged to my great grandparents called Apples of Gold. It was one of my great grandmother's favorites, and it's easy to see why, at least to me. It reminds me that I must strive to be pleasant even when things don't always go my way. It's important to remember that we each have our burdens, we each have trials we are going through every day. We need to remember that the face we present to others is how we are perceived.
But remembering this little poem by an annoymous author helps keep things in perspective.
It is easy to be pleasant
When life flows by like a song.
But the man worth while is one who will smile,
When everything goes dead wrong.
For the test of the heart is trouble,
And it always comes with the years,
And the smile that is worth the praises of earth
Is the smile that shines thru the tears.
